A powerful visual aesthetic ultimately prevails over the story’s better intentions — particularly regarding love and relationships, and the marginalisation of those living outside a cold, relentless, systematised society. Director Luiza Shelling (this is her second feature, selected for Sitges) is a seasoned producer with over 20 years of experience; she has produced several shorts screened at Venice and Toronto, others that achieved theatrical release, and features with large audiences on platforms including Netflix.
